"Everyone means well but when you surprise an athlete, especially in gymnastics, with "Grandma & Grandpa drove in to see you at State" the added pressure can make a difference. Gymnastics is such a mental sport that we, as coaches, can have them very well prepared for a big competition and then the meet gets blown from outside influences beyond our control. Surprises can affect the gymnasts and confrontations can affect the gymnasts. Help us by keeping things as "regular" as possible so that the athlete can concentrate on the main goal of competing well." - Tom Burgdorf
